Brussels is set to reveal details of action despite ministers’ insistence the the Northern Ireland protocol plans do not break international law.
The UK is making last-minute tweaks to planned legislation to override a portion of its Brexit deal, as the European Union prepares to relaunch legal proceedings as part of the bloc’s response to the move.
The issue stems from the outworkings of the NI Protocol, which means Northern Ireland remains covered by the EU’s pharmaceutical regulations.
The European Union and NATO have gone through the most acute strategic challenges of the Euro-Atlantic space together. Their history of cooperation is long and has seen both ups and downs. Already in 1949, the two defence players in western Europe, NATO and the Western Union (later the Western European Union), had begun to interact.
Brexit has severely disrupted trade between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK), with total UK imports from the EU falling by almost a quarter (24.8%) and exports to the EU falling by 13.1%, according to a report for the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee.
Friday marked 50 years since Ireland signed the treaty in Brussels that took the fledging state into the European Economic Community.
